A Trip Down Under: Pt. 3

30 Jun

The third and final post in our Post Alley series. Highlighting many of the diverse pieces of art on the wall. The mixture of high fashion ads, graffiti and wheat pastes creates a very interesting collage of different cultures and ideas. One starhead boy and one narboo installment up there.

Brainbender

New addition to this post and this post. Again, I have no idea whether this new installment was done by the same artist, but it seems to go along with the theme of animals/characters on the rest of the wall.

Robot Wars

When I was at Artopia i noticed these decorated vehicles and thought that they were really cool. I especially like the robot girl and the fish girl who were on opposite sides of a RV type car.

Wandering Star

Starhead Boy is a local artist with numerous stickers around Seattle. These ones are my personal favorite, but he has a large range of others also. You can visit his blog here, or his flickr page here.

Artopia

28 Jun

Yesterday I went to Artopia in Georgetown which is “Seattle Weekly’s annual celebration of all local innovative art and emerging talent”. There were many different forms of art from music to comics. I was only able to get pictures of some of the pieces of art, others being too big or just inaccessible. My favorite thing that I was able to take a picture of is the 6-ft tall metal divider that a 300 pound block of ice was set to melt on. For more information on Artopia you can click here

Georgetown

28 Jun

Yesterday I was in Georgetown for Artopia. While I was there and walking around I found a black wall covered in really cool art. My favorites are the old man which someone graciously added a tack to and the spray-paint hornet. You can also see some art by Starhead Boy there.

I’ll have more pictures from Artopia up over the next couple of days. For more information on Artopia click here.

Because He’s Just That Cool

27 Jun

Even though we post Bald Man stickers with regularity, it’s always good to have a post every once in a while dedicated solely to him. I recently had some contact with the Bald Man and if there is still any confusion, this blog is not written or affiliated with the Bald Man. Also through my contact with him, I should be receiving a few Bald Man stickers, which I am very excited about. The 3rd picture down (the sky blue Bald Man on the dumpster) is one of my favorite pictures we’ve posted so far. The flowers and overall clarity of the photo make it seem like a much better picture than it is. Link to the Bald Man’s Flicker page.

Think Good Thoughts

27 Jun

Because were funny people here at Bald Man Is Watching, I decided to include some humor (sort of) into the site. Everyone likes giant squids, depressed desserts and whatever you would call that 3rd one.

A Trip Down Under: Pt. 2

27 Jun

Part two of our Post Alley pictures. Something I didn’t mention in the first post about the alley is the way that the light affects the art. It’s under a portion of the market, shrouding many of the wheat-pastes in darkness and shining strange light angles on others. Overall, the light animates much of the wall and makes it feel alive. The collaboration of the figures and characters and more traditional graffiti on the wall also creates a very interesting perspective.
